Religious polychrome sculpture of the 17th and 18th century: A comparative study of techniques, alterations and conservation in Portugal, Spain and Belgium. Lisbon 2000-2002.

Research Project within the Raphael Programme of the European Union, in collaboration with the Instituto Portugués de Conservaçao e Restauro (IPCR) ) and the participation of the Institut Royal du Patrimoine Artistique (IRPA, Brussels), Musée de Louvain-la-Neuve, Instituto Andaluz del Patrimonio Histórico (IAPH, Sevilla) Servicio de Restauración de la Diputación Foral de Álava, (Vitoria-Gasteiz) Instituto de Patrimonio Cultural de España (IPCE, Madrid), Museu de Aveiro, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL), Centro de Estudo, Conservaçao e Restauro dos Açores (CECRA).

Development of polychromal wood carving, art-historical study, techniques and conservation of a number of different sculptures, reliefs and altarpieces from the three countries participating in the project. Conclusions from the research on selected pieces compiled and presented on CD-ROM and at the Lisbon International Congress 2002.
