This sculpture was installed next to the main entrance of the Basque Parliament in 2008 as a tribute and memorial to the victims of terrorism. In 2022, due to the degradation suffered for its location outdoors, it was decided to undertake a conservation and restoration project.

The technical direction of the work was the responsibility of Albayalde, in collaboration with Lourdes Fernández of the company Artingenium, a regular collaborator of the artist. The conservation and restoration work was carried out by Ártyco S.L.

The work is made of stoneware, with changing colours of reddish, orange and violet tones. It is made up of six large lattices through which the visitor can walk, which reproduce a text taken from a 16th century navigation notebook written in Basque.

After diagnosing the state of conservation and characterising the materials, cleaning treatments were carried out, eliminating biocolonisation, sealing cracks and fissures, bonding detached fragments, chromatic reintegration and the application of water repellent. A preventive maintenance and conservation plan will ensure the correct preservation of the piece for years to come.
