VISIT DEPOT BOIJMANS VAN BEUNINGEN IN ROTTERDAM

Opened in 2021 and located in the heart of Rotterdam, next to the museum of the same name, it is a spectacular building with mirrored cladding almost 40m high, designed by the architectural firm MVRDDV.

Open to the public, it houses 155,000 objects from the museum’s collection, which can be viewed along the general route, corridors and staircases, from many different angles (sometimes from below), as well as in different storage areas accessible by pre-booked guided tours.

Along with the objects and displaying transparency in its operation, through glass it is possible to observe the treatment spaces and staff members in their daily tasks of research, management, conservation and restoration.

Smaller than the Victoria & Albert East Storehouse, with exhibition spaces and closed rooms for private collections, this Dutch infrastructure shares with its London counterpart the purpose of showing the public most of its collection, in a clear evolution of openness to the public.
